The Lavender Festival - Summer Fair will take place 11-5pm 22nd June 2008 on Lavender Hill
This day of fun for all the family will include all the traditional Summer Fair activities and is an invitation to everyone to enjoy a good time on Lavender Hill. The event will be raising money for The Lavender Trust - part of Breast Cancer Care. Organised by the traders, The Lavender Festival will welcome everyone to come along and be a part of the community, whilst discovering more of what Lavender Hill has to offer.
The focus of the day is 'Food and Drink' - visitors will have the chance to sample great cuisine served on the Hill from all over the world, thanks to the vast and varied collection of eateries located along the street. Sri Lankan, Italian, Thai, Indian, Japanese and Indonesian to name a few PLUS a visiting French street market full of fantastic fresh food stalls.
We are running a Poster Design competition through all the local schools and the Mayor's office will award prizes to the winning entries.
The Taybridge will be hosting the attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the most Ferrero Rocher eaten in 1 minute - the current record is 5 chocolates! If you would like to take part in this challenge on the day of the Summer Fair, please register on http://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/register/register.aspx?existing=0 and an ajudicator will be present to hopefully award the record to a NEW record breaker!
