Miyajima restaurant is a canteen style Japanese restaurant selling a wide range of foods including Sushi, Noodle Soups, Pan fried Noodles, Bento Boxes and Rice Dishes.

It is easy recognizable by its red theme and Japanese Lanterns outside the entrance. The atmosphere is very relaxed and the restaurant has its own private “Tatami” style party room for approx 25 people downstairs for special occasions.

The restaurant offers excellent value for money and is open for lunch and evening meal 7 days a week.

A free delivery service is available within a 3 mile radius (terms and conditions available at the restaurant).

Having decided to eat out with some friends on Saturday and not wanting to travel too far we stumbled on Miyajima. A cool, laid back Japanese restaurant located on Lavender Hill SW11, they welcomed the 5 of us and with great surrondings & music we induldged in some great dishes inc veg options, with very friendly staff and a chilled atmosphere we all had a great experience. Oh and the end price wasn't too bad either. Would definitely reccomend it.
Decor is nice.

Not sure what it has to do with Miyajima though apart from the red gateway motif. I have been to Miyajima and this place doesn't remind me of it at all! Not a name a real Japanese restaurant would give themselves.

Staff are not friendly at all (probably Chinese). I ordered the icecream and requested all 3 scoops were Green tea, but the waitress told me that was not possible! So I ended up with the sesame and red bean icecream which I did not want.

Background music was dreadful (who wants to listen to Club Ibiza Anthems of 2004 in a Japanese restaurant! How about some Enka??!)

Price is very good, but.. this is definitely not authentic Japanese food. Ingredients are not Japanese. The katsu curry was more like a Thai Green curry! The Salmon sushi rolls were dry and lifeless, not much better than a Tesco sushi pack. Ramen noodles were made with Chinese noodles and lacked the flavour of Japanese egg noodles - the soup looked more like dish water than the usual soy sauce-miso soup variety.

I wouldn't recommend it. You get what you pay for when it comes to Japanese food. But if you don't know the difference this place may suffice.
